Annapolis Golf Club, is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Annapolis, Maryland.
Annapolis Golf Club first opened for play in 1928. The course was designed by Charles Banks. Every hole on a Banks course is designed after a hole in Scotland
A nine hole course, Annapolis Golf Club is "sloped and rated" for an 18 hole round. There are two sets of tee boxes on each hole for both men & women, with the "back nine" playing longer and more difficult than the front.
Ladies par: 37-37--74 USGA rating: 75.9, Slope;128
Mens par: 36-36--72 USGA rating: 70.1, Slope; 121
The course plays 6,405 yards from the back tees when you play a double loop 18 holes..
The open fairways are deceptive, as approach shots are played onto well protected elevated greens. Deep grass bunkers, reminiscent of Old St. Andrews, surround the "postage stamp" greens, requiring short game skill, accuracy, and finesse -- a reliable flop shot comes in handy here.
The natural setting and rolling terrain makes this course even more special. It is not unusual to have deer lope across the fairway during your round. Red fox have been known to steal golf balls and hide them in their dens. Osprey occasionally drop a fish or two on the fairways as they pass by with their catch from the nearby Chesapeake Bay.
The course closed on September 29, 2013. The Key School had purchased this 9-hole course and plan to build athletic fields, tennis courts, a baseball diamond, nature trail, and a pool on the property.
